Like many churches we group our Christmas messages around a particular theme or focus each year.
This year at Chichester Baptist Church ourstrapline is Re.thinking Christmas.
We are essentially making two points:
Firstly that the Christmas messages stand up to serious thought – you can be a thinking person and very much believe in the Christmas message.
Secondly, what we really want is to encourage people to rethink Christmas. They are already thinking about Christmas in a range of ways but their list of thoughts may have missed out the most important way to be thinking about this season – the arrival of the Saviour.
The words on the right of this poster are the titles for each of our messages. They give us an opportunity to introduce themes around the Christmas message that might represent a helpful rethink, even for those who have heard many Christmas messages before.
When I first looked at this poster I couldn’t find the word ‘subtle’, which is our title for a re.thinking Christmas message on Christmas Day. Then I realised it was there, but has been written subtly! Then, on closer inspection, I found all the words are written in a font style that fits the word…
